Spalding police and South Holland District Council review CCTV footage in bid to track down graffiti vandal

Police say they are reviewing CCTV to find the vandals responsible for graffiti around the town.

Unslightly graffiti tags have been sprayed on the boards of the former Calthrops building in Market Place and The White Horse in Churchgate, Spalding, in recent weeks. This website understands that around 50 locations have been plotted.

Officers from the South Holland Neighbourhood Policing team are working with South Holland District Council to investigate the problem.

Insp Matthew Dickinson says that footage from private and publicly owned CCTV cameras has been collected.

He said: “Police are aware of a series of incidents across Spalding involving graffiti ‘tags’.

“The local policing team are working in partnership with South Holland District Council to identify who may be responsible and will take robust enforcement when they are identified.

“Enquiries include visiting effected premises, where necessary recording statements and reviewing CCTV both private and council operated.

“As this remains an ongoing investigation it would be inappropriate to comment further.

“We encourage anyone who may have information on what has taken place to contact Lincolnshire Police. If you require any advice regarding removal of graffiti, please contact SHDC.”

Spalding Flower Parade organiser Stephen Timewell and artist Karl Barfoot are working together to cover up the graffiti on the former Calthrops building with a floral themed mural.

Mr Barfoot will start work on the mural over the weekend.
