Live updates of the 2025 Spalding Flower Parade

The 2025 Spalding Flower Parade had a musicals theme that hit the high notes as the floats passed through the town.

It was set to start at 11am but, as is tradition, had a slightly delayed start. This was said to be due to a car parked in the way on the route.

It set off shortly before 11.30am, with all the floats having left Roman Bank before noon. Rumours that the delay was caused by protestors have been refuted.

By 12.25pm all floats had passed along Halmer Gate. See our pictures from the start of the parade here.

By about 12.45pm the floats had passed through the town and were heading back towards Springfields. They arrived back at the start by shortly after 1pm. There was live music as well as crafts stalls and food vendors galore at a busy Springfields as visitors enjoyed the fun in the sunshine.

We had a team of reporters and photographers on the ground to capture all angles of an event that is set to attract thousands of visitors.

Sir John Hayes, MP for South Holland and the Deepings, said: “What a wonderful day and what a wonderful thing for Spalding.”

Former organiser Stephen Timewell returned to take a starring role. Find out what he made of the day here.

A series of floral displays around the town helped to get key parts of the route looking their best.

Michael James and family were near High Bridge waiting for the road to close in order to bag the best seats in the house to watch the procession.

Mr James, of Frampton, said: "We have come over every year. We used to live in Gosberton and brought our children when they were little and now we are bringing the grandchildren."

Jane Barron from Stafford was last at the parade aged 13 with the Huddersfield District Association Raleigh Camp.

She told reporter Jenny Beake: “It means a lot to be here - I have lots of childhood memories.”

103-year-old Joan Simpson, of Grange Drive in Spalding, was one of the oldest onlookers. She lives independently with carers and turned out in Halmer Gate to see the floats.

She said: “It’s excellent that we have the parade. It’s important and Spalding deserves it.

“We are also lucky with the weather this year.”

Sarah Hornby, who lives on the route, said: “The parade puts Spalding on the map.

“It’s a great way to bring people together.”

The floats were led by recently-crowned Spalding Flower Queen Erika Yao and deputy Briony Mann.
