Eat My Words: We review The Noshery Co Cafe and Restaurant at Springfields Outlet Shopping and Leisure in Spalding
A loud atmosphere and poor sandwich choice, left me unsatisfied and wishing I’d stuck with a different option.
Following previous visits to the Home and Garden Centre in Springfields Outlet Shopping and Leisure in Spalding, I was always intrigued by the cafe located at the side of the site.
Whenever I walked past it, it always seemed to be a popular destination for many visitors, but unfortunately it just didn't hit the spot for me or my boyfriend on this occasion.
After we decided to have a quick drop into the shopping centre on bank holiday Monday, myself and my partner thought it would be the perfect opportunity to finally try out The Noshery Co Cafe and Restaurant.
When we first walked in, we were worried there wouldn’t be a table free for us due to how busy it was, but we managed to get seated on some comfy sofas in the corner.
We were both very torn with what to choose because everything sounded so delicious, but after flicking back and forth through the menu for a while, we both decided to go for the toasted ciabattas.
I was indecisive between the tuna, black pepper mayonnaise and cheddar melt and the smoked applewood, tomato and basil and in the end I went for the latter which cost £8.95.
My boyfriend opted for the ranch chicken and maple-glazed bacon with cheddar cheese which cost £9.50 and were both served with a salad garnish and the choice to swap crisps for chips at an additional £2.50.
I just fancied a glass of water which was free and my boyfriend enjoyed a glass of coke which cost £3.05.
Whilst we waited for our food, we admired the brightness of the room and how nicely decorated it was however, we also began to notice how loud it was.
I’m not sure if this is how it would normally be or if it was because of the bank holiday, but sadly it did make it quite hard to have a conversation and relax.

The food was quick to arrive and our first impressions were that it looked good.
I was looking forward to trying the melted smoked apple wood cheese, as I had previously only enjoyed slices of it on a cracker.
As I took the first bite, I was immediately shocked by the texture which I can only describe as being thick and sticky and not what I was expecting at all.
After finally clearing away the claggy remnants which were stuck around my lips, I decided to give it another go – in the hope I would maybe enjoy it a bit more.
It still got a thumbs down from me and my boyfriend wasn’t too impressed with his either. He said the chicken and bacon was quite bland and he couldn’t taste much of the ranch flavour.
The ciabatta roll, tomato and basil element of my sandwich was fresh and tasty but unfortunately, I do wish I had gone for a different filling option.
We both agreed that the chips were good and the portion sizes for both dishes were generous.
Upon reflection, it would be nice to give the Noshery another chance by choosing something different on the menu and going at a different time. I do wonder though if that is the ‘normal’ vibe all of the time and personally, I do think first impressions make a difference.
In my opinion the site is a perfect spot for families, as there is a kids play area which allows parents to enjoy a small break.
The cafe and restaurant also had a wide selection of home made cakes, scones and pastries on the counter which all looked very tempting.
However, towards the end of our visit to the Noshery we were itching to leave to get a bit of peace and quiet elsewhere.
If I was to go back again I would choose to visit on a quiet afternoon to enjoy some tea and cake.
Food: There was a wide range of choices – including vegan and vegetarian options. The chips were crispy, hot and fluffy on the inside but unfortunately the ciabatta’s did not deliver for myself or my boyfriend. **
Drink: I think £3 for a coke is quite expensive but average in this day and age. ***
Decor: The cafe was nicely decorated and I liked how bright it was. ****
Staff: The staff were friendly and I noticed they were quick and efficient at clearing rubbish from tables, ready for new customers. ****
Price: All together we spent £26.50 which is quite a lot for lunch but I do think that it is a similar price to most cafes. ***
