More 4x4 and digger thefts in Spalding area - with incidents at Crowland and Gedney Hill
A spate of 4x4 and machinery thefts in the area continues - with two more incidents this week.
Earlier this month Lincolnshire Police warned motorists to be vigilant after four vehicles were stolen over the weekend of March 1-2.
Days later JCB digger was taken from a stonemasons in Sutton Bridge.
On Tuesday night another 4x4 and a Kubota digger were stolen in South Holland.
“Two days ago the team were made aware of a number of incidents that had occurred overnight around the Crowland and Gedney Hill areas near Spalding,” a Lincolnshire Rural Crime Action Team statement said.
“Stolen was a Toyota Hilux, IFor Williams trailer and a Kubota machine.
“We were able to locate and recover the stolen Hilux to the delight of the owner.
“Sadly for the IFor Williams trailer and Kubota machine owners we were unable to locate them and both remain outstanding.”
Earlier this month two Toyota Hilux vehicles were both taken from Pinchbeck and Donington, with a Takeuchi Excavator stolen from the Bourne Fen area and a Black Nissan Navara from Harlaxton.
Lincolnshire Police’s Rural Crime Action team say 4x4 thefts are becoming an increasing concern.
“We are asking all owners of not just Hilux but other 4x4 vehicles to be aware that across the county more and more of these vehicles are being stolen,” a previous RCAT statement said.
Police also issued some tips to help motorists protect their vehicles from thieves.
These included: installing CCTV, blocking in such vehicles with another where possible, fitting a crook lock and using an ‘aftermarket alarm or tracker as the factory fitted ones are easily bypassed/removed’.
