Work progressing on Pinchbeck’s Greencell roundabout
Work is progressing on major changes to a roundabout as part of a £20million improvement project.
Lincolnshire County Council is increasing the size of the A16/B1180 Greencell roundabout at Pinchbeck in order to provide two wider lanes thanks to a £20million Levelling Up grant for the A16.
Changes to this roundabout is part of a wider scheme which also sees improvements to the Springfields roundabout and Marsh Lane, Boston. Both of the latter two are now complete, leaving the Pinchbeck upgrade as the last element of the project to complete.
The improvement work to the Greencell roundabout is estimated to cost £6.6million.
Work ticked off the list in January includes constructing the splitter islands, site clearance and earth works along with the addition of new signs and lighting columns.
But more is to be done before the job is complete in spring.
New surfacing is being laid on the roundabout and the A16 leading towards Springfields during a series of night-time closures which are currently taking place.
The county is also planning to start work on footpaths close to the Springfields Outlet Shopping and Leisure centre.
New lay road markings, fencing, landscaping are also being installed this month along with burying joints between the two roundabouts.
