The second annual Adam Jackson memorial match is being staged at Holbeach United Football Club

A galaxy of south Lincolnshire's footballing stars are set to turn out for the Adam Jackson memorial match on Sunday.

The game is pitting past players from Holbeach United's successful Sunday side against a squad playing under the banner of Ahoy There FC - Adam's trademark saying when walking into a room.

The match is taking place at Holbeach United's Carter's Park ground with the game kicking off at 1pm to remember the ex-Tigers and Spalding United player who tragically took his own life in March of last year.

The organising committee of Tim Cole, Danny Hussey, Sharla Slayven, Luke Jackson and Stephen Jackson.

Former Holbeach bosses Danny Hussey and Phil Barnes will be in charge of the Ahoy team while Tim Cole - one of the five event organisers - will be leading the Sunday side with current Corby Town assistant boss Darren Edey.

The line-ups will be packed with Adam's former team-mates in an event that will raise money for the Samaritans.

They include former Holbeach players Andrew Tidswell, Cal Davies, Jonny Allen, James Tricks, Matt Warfield and Jonny Lockie as well current Tigers skipper Luke Nicholson.

Ex-Holbeach striker Michael Frew - who is still playing for Stamford at step three of the non-league pyramid - is also set to feature along with Spalding United's legendary defender Nathan Stainfield.

Jack and Jordan Keeble, Phil Stebbing, Tom Gosling, Danny Setchell, Ollie Pinner, Spencer Tinkler, Paul Newcombe, Ben Crane, John Smith, Liam Hook, Leiigh Overton and Adam Kirk are also expected to turn-out.

Fellow event organisers Luke Jackson, Adam's brother, and his dad Stephen will also feature with everyone who is attending being urged to create a 'sea of colour' with their clothing to reflect Adam's personality.

The organisers - which also includes Danny Hussey and Sharla Slayven - said: "Adam was such a larger than life character and there are always so many reminders to show how missed he is and well remembered.

"We want everyone to wear loud and bright shirts on the day to reflect the unique clothing that he used to wear.

"We think that it reflects his personality and we want to have a sea of colour around the ground and in the bar afterwards."

Gates open on Sunday at 12pm with admission being £3 for adults with Under 10s getting in free. A memorial bench will be unveiled and a special tribute made to Adam ahead of kick-off.
