Former Scunthorpe United and Peterborough Sports boss Jimmy Dean is the new manager of Spalding United

Jimmy Dean has been appointed as the new manager of Spalding United.

Dean takes over from Elliot Sandy who parted company with the Tulips after just three games of the new campaign after leading Spalding to promotion last season.

Dean enjoyed a terrific tenure as manager of Peterborough Sports who he guided from the United Counties League into the National League North.

He then moved onto Scunthorpe United where he led the Iron into the National League North play-offs last season but, defeat to Boston United, ended his reign at the club.

Dean takes over a Spalding side who have lost their last four games in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

They are in FA Cup action on Saturday when they host Matlock Town at the Sir Halley Stewart ground in the first qualifying round.
