Man arrested as Lincolnshire Police continue to look into nails and screws in the road in Whaplode
A man has been arrested for ‘causing a danger to road users’ in relation to nails and screws being left in a village road.
Residents in Whaplode have been left baffled by regular issues in Hagbeach Gate and Crowdyke Gate — with the sharp items being found on the routes on a regular basis since first being reported last summer.
The 48-year-old man’s arrest follows the arrest of a 41-year-old woman in July of this year.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: “Yesterday, Thursday October 3, officers from South Holland’s Neighbourhood Policing Team arrested a 48-year-old man for causing a danger to road users following an investigation into multiple reports of nails and screws being found in the road in the village of Whaplode.
“He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.”
Residents had been said to be heading out ‘at all hours’ to look for the screws and nails and others are reported to be carrying magnets in their cars after suffering damaged tyres.
They were concerned that the issue could cause a serious collision — as well as expensive repairs.
