South Holland District Council leader Nick Worth hails news that Spalding Flower Parade will go ahead in 2025
The leader of South Holland District Council has celebrated and congratulated the continuation of the Spalding Flower Parade, calling the annual event ‘part of our heritage’.
Spalding Flower Parade 2025 was announced as going ahead on Wednesday evening by a committee of volunteers dedicated to saving the event, confirming its return to the Springfields Events Centre on May 10, 2025.
The future of the annual parade, which ran from 1959 to 2013 before returning in 2023 and 2024, was in doubt after a number of factors made it difficult for the event to take place in 2025.
The usual location for the last two events, Castle Sports Complex in Spalding, is preparing to undergo a multi-million pound redevelopment that will make it impossible to start and finish the flower parade there next year.
The Spalding Flower Parade CIC Committee, a group of local volunteers who teamed up to find a way to deliver the event in 2025, said they had explored “every viable option” in the town itself, but no suitable venues were found to tick the boxes of affordability or public safety.
However, the committee agreed to put a vote to the public on the 2025 event either not taking place, or being held at its former location — the Springfields Events Centre out of town.
Support in favour of the parade taking place was overwhelming, and the committee confirmed the 2025 Spalding Flower Parade will take place on May 10.
This was music to the ears of South Holland District Council’s Leader, Nick Worth.
“It’s great news to see the Spalding Flower Parade back next year,” he said. “Not just for the tens of thousands of people who flock to see this spectacular event, but also for the food and drink businesses in and around the town.
“It is after all, part of our heritage. Well done to the organising committee.”
It will remain a free-to-attend event, with floats and flowers for all to experience and witness.
The route will begin and end at Springfields, touring around the town in usual fashion to an expected tens of thousands of visitors and locals watching from the sides.

The Chairman of Springfields Horticultural Society (based at Springfields Events Centre), Adrian Jansen, said; “The Society’s Trustees will be pleased to hear that we have been able to help with the Parade organisation next year, and in particular that all those groups and individuals, especially the children, can start planning their part in the event. Hopefully it will be a fun and enjoyable day for all.”
There is expected to be live entertainment across the weekend of May 10 at the events centre, and plans are in place for live festivities at Spalding’s Market Place also — though that remains unconfirmed for now.
The task is now on for the committee to raise some £80,000 to fund the event, with organisers saying there are still a “healthy” amount of reserves left from 2024, but stressing the need for fundraiser events in the build-up to next May.
Coun Worth had previously called for government support to aid and assist events like this and their sustainability for future generations.
