Trial date set for man accused of killing Spalding woman Kristine Sparane
A provisional trial date has been set for a man who has been charged with the murder of Kristine Sparane.
Brian Simpson, 64, of Nene Court, Spalding, appeared before Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight at Lincoln Crown Court on Tueday afternoon.
The case was listed before Judge Nirmal Shant KC at Nottingham Crown Court, but was transferred to Lincoln Crown Court.
Dressed in a grey tracksuit top, Mr Simpson spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth when he appeared over a video link from HMP Nottingham.
His barrister, Clive Stockwell KC, did not apply for bail on his client’s behalf.
He will next appear via a video link into Lincoln Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on January 9.
Judge Sjolin Knight fixed a provisional trial date beginning at Lincoln Crown Court on May 19 next year and remanded Mr Simpson back into custody.
The body of the 37-year-old Ms Sparane was found at a property in Winsover Road, Spalding, at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 26.
When officers arrived they arrested the defendant and on Saturday, November 30, Lincolnshire Police confirmed that Simpson had been charged with murder.
